Tell Us Your Good Deed:
June 25th 2011, I shaved my head for the St. Baldrick's Childhood Cancer Research Foundation. With the help of my mother, family, and friends I was able to raise $4,000 to this amazing organization, and donate 4, 12" ponytails to Locks of Love. In the weeks leading up to my donation I was just simply excited. When I was having my head shaved I was all smiles, from ear to ear. It was my hair dresser that was nervous and my dad who couldn't watch. It all hit home when an elderly woman spoke up from the corner and told me that she was a cancer survivor, and really appreciated what I had just done. In that moment I realized the magnitude in what I had just done, and the beautiful opportunity that St. Baldrics gives everyone. "Beauty is in your heart, not your hair." Some may call it a sacrifice, but I call it an honor, a pleasure to give that little thing, my hair, to give the incentive for people to learn about St. Baldrickís and to donate to this incredible cause. If there was one thing that I could say to children who have cancer, I would tell them that they are beautiful, and that no matter what happens, always keep your head up and stay strong because there is hope, and you never know what tomorrow may bring. They can find true beauty within their heart, not a mirror. Children are our future, being a part of St. Baldrick's is for them.
Why are you participating?:

Who I am isn't about who I am with, or what I look like, but it is who I am inside, and that I am sick of people judging me for that outside mask that we all have. We hide what's inside with the vain mask that everyone sees, our superficial selves.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I try to live my life based on what my heart tells me. I always try to make my decision based on what I feel is the right thing to do. I put others before myself. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my friends and family smile because of something I have done for them.

I love helping others and changing the lives of many with joy and happiness. I have gone to Florida with QU Campus Ministry Freshmen year of college and volunteered at a School for pregnant teenagers; then sophomore and junior year of college I went to Nicaragua with the Albert Schweitzer Institute where I help and lead building schools and planting gardens for the children of cities near Leon; and senior year of college I am going to Battle Creek Michigan to help build homes with Habitat for Humanity. To be able to put a smile on another's face is something that I value a lot!

I work with autistic children through art and dance in order for them to find better ways to express themselves to the world. I love putting a smile on their faces and watching them do something they love.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I am a Resident Assistant at Quinnipiac University. I strive to make freshman students have a positive adjustment to college life. I help them with personal and social issues and resolve any problems that they are encountering. I try to be a friend to them as well as a mentor. I do my best to act as a role model at all times.
Why are you participating?:

I want everyone to understand that there is a lot more to a person than what you see. It is important to get to know individuals on a more personal level before jumping to conclusions.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
In high school, I went to Mali, West Africa and lived in an indigenous village for two weeks to help build a school. Mali is one of the poorest undeveloped countries in the world and the literacy rate is unbelievably low. I like knowing that I helped both children and adults learn to read and write which will help not only this small village, but Mali as a whole.
Why are you participating?:

Sometimes we are too quick to judge people by the external things that we see. This project allows for us to see the good in the world and to breathe hope back into humanity.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
In middle school, I interviewed a Vietnam war veteran for a school project. As I interviewed him, he told me about his life and I realized he didn't really have many people left in his to visit or take care of him. For the next few years, I sent him letters and cards hoping it brightened his day and made him feel cared for.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I went to a catholic high school and I consider myself religious. One great deed I can never forget is during high school, every Wednesday I went out into the community with my class mates to volunteer and perform service to the community. I went to an elementary school and worked in a classroom with autistic children. I gave the teachers an extra two hands to help out and play with the children. My goal each day was to put a smile on each one of their faces by the end of the day. (:

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
Every day I try to do a good deed, whether it's holding a door for a friend, or smiling at a stranger. For me, I feel like it is the small things that really matter. You never know when someone is having a bad day, and your simple action can turn everything around. Why stop at the little things though? I'm a huge believer in Community Service. My most recent project was to volunteer at a local elementary school. Just showing up, giving those kids something to laugh about, and being a presence, can make a big impact down the road.
Why are you participating?:

I'm participating in the No Evil Project because I want to show that I believe in the good all around us. For me it is an honor to be part of this collection, as each person with me truly believes as I do, that it is the good things in life that we must focus on. Why focus on the negative?
