Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I'm an art teacher, which means that the classroom teachers are responsible for picking up their students from my class. One grade of teachers knows my lunch is right after their class and see that as an invitation to take a few extra minutes because I don't teach a class directly after it. There is one teacher who is always on time. It means a lot to me. Since it is the end of the school year I made sure to write her a nice card explaining how much I appreciated it and how her effort didn't go unnoticed.
Why are you participating?:

In the TV show Six Feet Under one of the characters says "I think that every once in awhile a person should get what they want, when they want it.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I've been a volunteer at WCUW for 30 years!
Why are you participating?:

I think labels are more subjective. We all fit into categories, but we each have our own niche within those categories.

I have helped several people translate in areas of service from Spanish, English, Cambodian, and Vietnamese. :)
Why are you participating?:

To show society that labels are judgments that shouldn't discourage ourselves from being who we are, and there are good in this world that comes from everyone.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I donated to breast cancer research
Why are you participating?:

People need to see positive things in this not so positive time. If I can put a smile on at least one persons face today, my day is complete :)

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I volunteer through my university's Big Brother Big Sister program to spend time with local elementary school children and act as a positive role model.
Why are you participating?:

Everyone is different and special in their own way. I want to celebrate that fact!

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
The latest: letting my son's ex-girlfriend (they parted acrimoniously) stay with us for about a week, after she lost her internship and before she could organize herself to get back to Texas. We treated her like a daughter and had a great time. Meanwhile, my two young-adult children were far away.
Why are you participating?:

I love the idea of poking holes in stereotypes in a visual way. In this polarized society, it's important to see each other as individuals.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
Last spring I traveled to Utila, Honduras to volunteer at an endangered iguana breeding facility. I was only there for a week but it changed my life for the better. It made me realize we are all connected and that we need to keep this world a great place for us and for future generations to come.
