Tell Us Your Good Deed:

I do talks on the making of classic films for senior residences and groups.

Why are you participating?:

Well, one label that affects me is "science fiction" (which is similar to but not the same as your listing of "science fantasy"). I am a fan, a panelist at conventions, and the author of several published books and short stories. To non-fans "science fiction" is still an outsider culture to be mocked at worse or tolerated at best, despite the phenomenal success of SF media and books. For example, someone wearing a Red Sox uniform on their way to Fenway Park is simply a member of "Red Sox Nation." Someone engaging in cosplay heading to a science fiction convention is a "nerd" or a "geek."

As to why I'm participating, I became acquainted with your project at the Watch City Steampunk Festival and was happy to join in.
