Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I am a direct descendant of Ahosu Agassou (“Tegbesu”), the founder of Dahomey and the spiritual system of Vodoun. As an elder in the Worcester community, I am often asked to pour libation and call upon ancestors with my drumming. I am on the Enstoolment Committee of the National Black Council of Elders. I was enstooled on April 7, 2017 as Queen Mother by the National Black Council of Elders I am a US Army Disabled Veteran I was Vice Chair on the Worcester Commission on Disability. I am currently serving on the advisory board and the executive board of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority. I am founder of Vélékété African Ancestral Percussion. I’ve been an African drummer for the past 48 years. I am a practitioner of Vodoun I am the only member of my family that has researched, studied, documented, observed, practiced and maintained our African ancestral lineage, heritage and culture and maintained our ancestral altars in my family over the last 30 years.
Why are you participating?:

I am participating because I am more than the eye can see and looks can be deceiving. When people look at me they see a short, chubby, disabled elderly grandma.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
Volunteer once a week with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization mentoring youth in the city of Worcester
Why are you participating?:

I want to show there are a lot of good people in the world.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I volunteer at the University of Massachusetts Medical school in the infusion center. I serve food to patients going through chemo treatment and other chronically ill patients that need to be infused. I have found this very rewarding more than my other paid jobs in a sense that I am able to put a smile on someone’s face by offering them a can of gingerale or cracker.
Why are you participating?:

We are all born to believe in stereotypes that society has set for certain groups of people who may look different from us. I find pleasure in being apart of this project that shows people can fill many other labels aside the stereotypes.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I am not an evil person. I am a child of the living God and evilness does not prevail from me. My good deed is I love all people black, white, red, yellow, fat, skinny, young, old, disabled/handicapped. In fact I am a homemaker, because I want the elderly to be able to stay in their homes where they are comfortable, and happy knowing their surroundings. My theory is there is only ONE God, and we all have that same God. The God of the universe.
Why are you participating?:

I believe the evil around us needs to come to a stop. I believe it is pure out wrong. We are supposed to love one another, and it's a command by the Lord our God to love our enemies and neighbors.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I have trained thousands of people on confidence, presentation, and executive presence. I specifically target young women and people of color to help them be more competitive in the corporate world.
Why are you participating?:

As a poor kid from the projects, I know how hard it is to break through expectations. And I know we are all more than we seem.
