Suja

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
My one good deed is connecting people to resources, networks, relationships, connections, and cultures that they otherwise may have not encountered or been exposed to.
Why are you participating?:

I think it is important to know and learn a story that is different than yours. I think there is danger in knowing only one story, and that is where stereotypes may be birthed. Living and embracing diversity is so important as a citizen of the world.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
Volunteer as a Sunday School Teacher. Volunteer for Special Olympics. Seek out nursing volunteer opportunities.
Why are you participating?:

In a previous job, I was labeled as "too ethnic". Since moving to Mass. (2015) and becoming a Public Health Nurse, I find it easy to connect with and reach out to people with diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I spend Christmas Day serving dinner at the Genesis Club in Worcester. The Genesis Club's mission is to help persons in recovery from mental illness attain employment, education, physical health, and decent housing.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
Acknowledging and inviting a homeless lady to lunch. Never was able to wrap my mind over how content she was with life over a cup of yogurt one morning on my walk into work.
Why are you participating?:

I believe that you don't ever have to justify anyone what and how you should like to express your true and authentic self.
