Tell Us Your Good Deed:
Last semester I studied in Cape Town, South Africa. While abroad I volunteered for an organization that works with women and children infected with and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. This wonderful opportunity allowed me to work with youth living in Khayelitsha, one of the largest and most impoverished townships in South Africa. Throughout my time with the organization I implemented a program called Art for Action which exposed the youth to various forms of creative expression. Although my experience was challenging at times, the youth truly had a lasting impact on me, and I would like to think that I did the same for them.
Why are you participating?:

We all know the saying- don't judge a book by it's cover. But this is inevitable. We see someone and automatically make assumptions based on their exterior characteristics that are visible. It is what we do after the fact that matters.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I read to my daughter every night.
Why are you participating?:

I am making my mark on the world by raising my daughter to be a great person. When I'm grown up, I'll find different ways to change the world...

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I organized an anti-trafficking event in high school to bring awareness to the local human trafficking issues in my state. We brought attention to the cause through art and with the help of Not for Sale MN.
Why are you participating?:

I am a firm believer that every little effort counts.

Pretty soon I will be going to Haiti to volunteer at the Be Like Brit orphanage. I also make it a point to call or visit my 86 year old grandmother at least once a week!
Why are you participating?:

I think that everyone can be just a little bit nicer!

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
When I went to China for vacation over the Summer, I gave money and a smile to just about every homeless person I saw.
Why are you participating?:

I think that this project is important in a world where competitiveness and seeking to individually get ahead is the mark of a successful person.
