Tell Us Your Good Deed:

I was a mentor for an at risk youth in Portland Maine for over a year. We helped each other tremendously and it was a very humbling experience that changed my life.

Why are you participating?:

I want people to be aware that children and adults are being prescribed powerful medications to alleviate pain. I was prescribed vicodin at 15 for back pain, and finally graduated to Oxycontin by 26. The drugs took control of my life. I cut off contact with my family, friends, and anyone that truly cared about me. I am proud to say that I have been opiate free for almost a year. I wish someone had given me alternative ways to manage my pain like exercise and vitamins. I am now pain free and continue to work on rebuilding my relationships.
