Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I work with a national climate organization nonprofit to help lobby and fight for a clean environment and a sustainable future.
Why are you participating?:

I believe that kindness is now more important than ever because of the toxic socio-political atmosphere caused by certain political leaders and hateful individuals.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I see myself when I see the world. I've always been able to feel the hardship of others. Through my lived experiences having had the opportunity to work in developing countries, I have seen that the world isn't equitable to women, children, people of religious background, people with disability, and people of certain racial groups. To make a small impact in this world, I founded an international NGO in Liberia, where I was born. HVK Children's Foundation works in 6 rural schools with offices located at 44 Portland st., Worcester, and Liberia. HVK Children's Foundation work is impacting over a thousand students where we provide an e-learning system that brings rich educational resources to schools, and train teachers to deliver quality education to children attending the schools. I am also running for Worcester School Committee to help provide quality education and rich experiences for all Worcester Public School students.
Why are you participating?:

I didn't know that I was "black" until I came to live in America. Labels aren't a good way to how we view humanity. As God's children, we should be seen by the measure of the human heart rather than the labels society forcibly attach on us.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I have organized many events for less fortunate children. Also, I was head of several organizations that performs good deeds for the people.
Why are you participating?:

I believe people believe too much in stereotypes. I am no "stereotypical" Latino, and do not believe there is such a thing.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I sometimes pay for the driver behind me in the DD drive thru.
Why are you participating?:

I am participating because I think labels are too often negative, and that by labeling ourselves, we can show a more positive side to the whole thing!

Deb

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I've raised children to do good in the world, to understand that everything we do affects those around us.It makes me proud that each one has chosen to give of themselves to make the world a better place.
Why are you participating?:

Why not? I want to go to my resting place with no regrets, nothing left undone or not done.
